Favorite Things 2008
Every year I steal this idea from Oprah, and I list the things that I loved in 2008 and can’t live without. Past years have included things like my butter bell and Blackberry. This year:
Roomba — O.M.G. I love that little thing! His name is Minion, and he sits in my living room at the end of the couch, just waiting to go to work for me. He cleans better than my upright vacuum and fits into tight places. He cleans the living room thoroughly and then moves to the kitchen. When he’s done, he parks himself in his little charger and waits for the next time I need him. LOVE that little guy.
Stamps.com — WHY did I not know about this sooner? My post office is a PITA. Always busy, always a line out the door. Now I can do my mailing from home. Love it, love it.
Dead Sea lotion — I’m not a lotion person. I hate the greasy feel on my hands. But this stuff absorbs quickly and leaves behind the yummiest smell. It’s expensive, but totally worth it!
DVR — Okay, this is possibly my #1 favorite thing this year. For the longest time, I resisted getting one. My husband kept bugging me, and I kept saying, “We have a VCR that works perfectly fine.” Finally, I gave in when I accidentally recorded over a tape. Holy crap, all I can say is that I’m a freaking MORON for waiting. A click is all it takes to record, I can record gobs of shows and save them, and the best? I can pause shows that are NOT being recorded so I can answer the phone, go to the bathroom, etc. I LOVE that machine. Will die if I’m forced to not have one if we move to some middle-of-nowhere assignment this summer…
eBookwise – What. A. dumbass. Yeah, that’s me. Dumbass for waiting so long. Love the thing. It’s so nice to be able to read in bed without a light on, and it’s NOTHING like reading a book on the computer screen.
Ear Pops — My ears are really sensitive when they get cold or exposed to wind. They ache easily, and the ache lasts for hours. But these little gems pop onto your ears with very little profile (they’re not puffy like ear muffs, and they don’t have any kind of straps.) They’re just two little disks about the size of your ear, and are easily stored in your coat pocket or purse. Quite awesome.
Salt and Pepper Orville Redenbacher’s — I love popcorn, and this flavor is so good! It’s in their “natural” line, so basically, there’s some butter flavor and then seasoned with salt and pepper. Yummy!
My husband’s CPAP machine — The man snores. Bad. So he did a sleep study, and they prescribed him this machine. Sure, while he’s sleeping he looks like a fighter pilot and sounds like Darth Vader, but NO MORE SNORING!!!! OMG, we’re both finally sleeping better. Yay!
Okay, so there’s my list. What are some of YOUR favorite things of 2008?

I completely agree with you on the ebookwise! It’s wonderful, and since the price is so low, I had more money to buy books!

Larissa, you always make me laugh!! And, it is always and education because I’ve never heard of Roomba, but then I don’t watch Oprah. lol
I have to say, my favorite thing of 2008 has to be my e-bookwise. I love that little wonder and thank the techy people, or whoever that invented it!
Great post!
Have a good day.

I love, love, love my eBookwise.
My only complaint about DVR is that if you move or if the box goes out you lose everything. So, dig up a VCR or a DVD recorder and get all those favorite things recorded, Larissa.
I think my favorite thing that I found this year was my blogs, Yahoo groups and forums. I had never visited sites like this one, but I’m so thankful for them now.

Since I returned to work this year….I have to say my favorite thing has been my new slow cooker. Not very exciting, but it is nice to come back to a home-cooked meal that’s pretty much all ready done.

My butter bell…thanks! ;-) Oh, and my iPhone. :-)
Probably other things too, but I just had to get in the plug for the butter bell since you mentioned it and all. :-)

Since I didn’t really get any ‘things’ that stand out in 2008, I’d have to say my favorite thing of the year was my trip to Russia with my brother. It was a lot of fun and something I’ll never forget.

I discovered Bath and Body Works Sleep line, Warm Milk and Honey and swear it’s helped me sleep for longer stretches of time. So of course, its going out of stock, ack!

We still have a great deal of fun with our Wii (must get a Wii Fit though!) but I think my most favorite thing of 2008 is not really a thing–it’s that my kids all finally regularly sleep through the night. At long last. (And no, we’re not having any more!)

Well tops on my list of favorites is my new laptop, I had no clue what I was missing out on by not being able to take a computer with me when we travel or are on vacation!!
Another favorite thing is our new kitty Max ( we adopted him at Christmas from our local ASPCA……he is the sweetest stinkin cat alive! He is snoring on my lap as I type!

Well, nothing remotely as cool as your stuff, that’s for sure!

I’ve seen the Roomba ads and commercials, I must admit
that it looks very interesting. That’s one household
item Honey can gift me with and I won’t be upset! Let’s
see, the next gift-giving occasion is Valentine’s Day,
I wouldn’t mind receiving that cute little item!

Now you make me want a Roomba. Do they work on hardwood floors? And also, I want the popcorn :)
I love my Tivo. Love love love. I’ve had it 2 years though.
And my laptop. Love my freedom with it.
